I see this on the interwebs today...
Overnight Instagram marketers telling you that the KEY to success in Instagram is to get more followers.
- "Instagram is about FOLLOWERS – the more you have, the better."
- "Just spend 3 hours a day on Instagram and you'll grow!"
- "Grow your Instagram followers, and then grow your email list, your website traffic, your subscribers - everything!"
I get it – I mean, I've said these things myself.
But these marketers are regurgitating what worked back in 2016.
Things like...
– Be consistent and post high-quality content everyday
– Design a cohesive, on-brand feed
– Follow / unfollow
But in 2020?
I know you're not TRULY wanting Insta-fame.

But guess what? In 2019, I posted HALF as much as I did in 2018, my followers didn't really grow at all – and yet, I made more revenue than ever before ($400K).
How? Because I stopped caring about vanity metrics (followers and likes) and focused my time on taking quality actions while in the app.

Myth #2: "Instagram takes a lot of work, and has little return."
I'm guilty of this one.
Back in 2016, I posted every. single. day. – and spent hours in the app engaging with people.
But in 2020? My most successful students and case studies are those with less than 1,000 followers – who sometimes only post 3X a week between their feed and Stories.
Dr. Amir, a Toronto Botox physician, told me:
"Even though we only post 3x per week on feed and Stories, we get 1 to 2 paying clients each week."
Instagram doesn't HAVE to become your new life partner. 💍
You can post just a few times a week, and see consistent sales to your business.
Myth #3: "Instagram is for growing your email list, driving people to your blog, or sending them to your freebie."
Okay, guilty again. 🤦♀️
I used to use Instagram as a switchboard of sorts – trying to send my followers away to all my other channels.
But in 2020? The power of Instagram is in CONNECTION and therefore, closing sales.
My friend Cami Farey (a web designer) says it best:
"Who cares about adding a new subscriber to my list when I can close $1,000 in new business?"

It really drives me crazy to see people spouting these false teachings in 2020.
Because they might have given YOU the wrong idea all along!
