Fwd: I’ll NEVER read this ‘yellow’ book again





Hi,

 

This is one book that I will NEVER read again:

 

 

The Yellow Pages — a thick yellow book filled with names and numbers of local businesses.

 

And when I started my one-person agency, this was exactly what I used to call businesses and pitch them my services.

 

And it SUCKED.

 

I called hundreds of them offering my services. 

 

And even when I said I'd do it for free - they still rejected me.

 

"Yeah, I'll think about it."

 

"I don't know, maybe not today."

 

"Give me another call next week."

 

And you know the worst part was?

 

Even though I hated it...

 

Even though it made me sick, made me feel like a loser, and made me feel like a low-life...

 

I kept doing it.

 

Because I thought it was the only way...

 

Until something clicked. And I finally realized...

 

The REAL Reason Most People Were Rejecting Me

 

I realized it wasn't because of what I was selling…

 

Or who I was selling to...

 

It was because of HOW I was selling. 

 

You see, I was coming across needy, and desperate.

 

I made people extremely uncomfortable, and they felt like I was pushing my services down their throat.

 

They also felt like I was invading their privacy.

 

And that's just not okay.

 

Yet, the crazy thing is, this is what a lot of salespeople do too.

 

They are always pushing benefits and features.

 

They are always being aggressive and pushing you to buy.

 

And they are always more interested in the product than your needs as a potential customer/client.

 

Anyway. I decided to do the exact opposite.

Instead of telling them how great I was. And why they should hire me…

 

I started asking questions.

 

I started showing an interest in their needs.

 

And when I finally got my first few clients using my new system, it all went uphill from there.

 

Suddenly, they referred me to others.

 

I got on the phone, used my new approach, and boom.

 

More clients.

 

Then those clients sent me referrals.

 

So I did the same thing.

 

I got on the phone with them. And BOOM. Even more clients.

 

It became easy...

 

Instead of fearing the phone - I started to love it.

 

Instead of feeling shy and introverted - I felt alive.

 

And soon enough, I was able to BURN my Yellow Pages and never look at it ever again. 

 

No More Rejection

 

Imagine never having people slam the phone on you again...

-- Never having to hear 100 nos before hearing one yes.
