Re: How to "snap" your fears in half

Hi,


Many years ago in a little town between Wichita, Kansas and Omaha, Nebraska… there lived a short, bald mayor.

Who everyone in town knew - and everyone in town loved.

And one day this mayor decided to visit the traveling circus which had just come to his town.

When he arrived, the showmaster greeted him - and after shaking the mayor's hand and slapping him on the back… the showmaster insisted that he come take a quick tour behind the scenes, before the show started.

So off they went. First visiting the tent where all of the animals were kept.

When the two men stepped inside the tent - the mayor's eyes widened. As he looked around he saw tigers, giraffes, bears, lions, and… in a far corner of the tent, there was a young elephant.

Around whose leg was wrapped an enormous metal chain, which tied him to a thick wooden pole.

And then as his eyes moved to the other side of the tent, he saw an enormous elephant. But after looking closer, he jumped and pointed with a quivering finger…

… because the enormous elephant had only been tied to his pole with a thin rope, no thicker than your little finger.

A rope which the enormous elephant could have easily snapped, with a little flick of his leg.

The mayor exclaimed to the showmaster, "don't you have this backwards? Shouldn't the small elephant have the thin rope - and the large elephant have the thick chain?"

The showmaster smiled, and responded, "that's what you would expect, isn't it?"

He continued, "But we have found that when an elephant is young, that is when they try their hardest to break free - and so they require the most restraint, and the thickest chains.

"But by the time they become much larger and stronger - their will has been broken. They have come to think it is impossible to break free. And so they cease trying. Thus all they need is a thin little rope, and they will never try to move away from their pole."

You and I are like that strong elephant.

What ties us to our "poles" in life is not a thick metal chain - but our fears. Our past failures which haunt us, from when we were young.

Maybe we tried to do something, but were laughed at and criticized.

Maybe we were told that we weren't good enough.

It is these voices from our past which hold us back today - from being what we could and are called to be. Making us feel trapped by our circumstances - and unable to step into the freedoms out there waiting for us.

And so even though our capabilities grow… and even though our ability to reach out and lay hold of freedom gets stronger as we get older… we stop trying to reach out and grasp it.


Because our will has been broken.

Yet all we need to see is that…

The string wrapped around our legs - the fears and insecurities which at times FEEL so debilitating - they are tiny and weak in comparison to our actual strength in God.


... they are nothing more than a small, breakable string.

And all we need to do is flick our legs, to start walking - and the string will snap.

Yes...


The wonderful world outside the "tent" we all grow up in awaits the few, who are brave enough to simply take a step forward… and snap the string.

So what do you say...


Wanna snap that string - and lay hold of the freedom waiting for you beyond the tent?

1. Creating epic content and making it go viral on Pinterest.

I enjoy creating content that I KNOW will rock like crazy on Pinterest, and then strategically pin them to get an influx of traffic (and hence subscribers!)

2. Search traffic
 

If you've written content, you def want to optimize them for search engines.

People from Google bounce off pretty quickly, so make sure that your website is optimized to get more subscribers. (I go through how you can do this in my free webinar)

3. Email courses on Facebook groups

Every few years there's a "hot new thing" that offers great engagement and reach. For awhile it was Digg. About a year ago Periscope was the greatest in thing that all the entrepreneurs were flocking to (it's a live video app).

For a few years now, Facebook groups have been the IN thing ever since FB page engagement became close to NIL.

Facebook groups are like a noisy marketplace. Everyone's trying to hawk their wares. You need to be strategic by offering really great stuff in those promo threads and keeping all those groups real organized. Something that has worked for me is building email courses and challenges to stand out from the crowd of promos.
